Today is Thanksgiving Day and the perfect time for a delicious turkey dinner. Over the years I have cooked my turkey with all different techniques and seasonings, most of which we enjoyed, some we didn't. But while turkey is the centerpiece, for me it is really all about the side dishes. Here are some of my favorite (and not necessarily classic) side dishes to serve alongside my turkey for Thanksgiving dinner.
Acini di Pepe with Celery and Zucchini
Leek and Quinoa Patties
Not So Boring Bean Salad
Mashed potatoes
Flipping Houses and Pancakes cookbook pg 276
Sheet Pan Green Beans
Flipping Houses and Pancakes cookbook pg 240
Rice with Beets, Raisins, and Almonds
Flipping Houses and Pancakes cookbook pg 262
Ideas for the dessert finale that are not pumpkin pie? Here are some perfect alternatives:
When Life Hands You Cranberries, Make This Cranberry Orange Cake
Vanilla Loaf Cake
Quadruple Chocolate Liqueur Cake
Flipping Houses and Pancakes cookbook pg 324
And when you finish your meal, what do you do with the leftovers? All that turkey and cranberry sauce? I have the answer. Make my Turkey Wontons! You won't regret it. My kids gobble them up (pun intended!). Find that recipe and many others in my cookbook Flipping Houses and Pancakes:Kosher Recipes and Kitchen Design Tips from an Amateur Professional, now on sale on Amazon and on my website (links below). Happy Turkey Day everyone!
